Les playoffs ont débuté en MLS et l'équipe de Laurent Ciman et Alejandro Pozuelo, Toronto, s'est brillamment qualifiée pour la demi-finale de conférence. Ils affronteront New-York City FC qui avait terminé premier la phase régulière.

Toronto était opposé au DC United de Wayne Rooney.
